This makes a great HTPC, does it make a basic / okay gaming...
...rig? Serious question. Civilization V (!!!) will be released in September. It's been awhile since I've dabbled in the world of PC gaming. I got rid of my custom built tower a few years ago (after it had been relegated to nothing more than a nightstand for the longest time). Since I primarily use Macs now for personal pursuits, hobbies, and... Read more »
Pros: Does what it should really easy and fast. The software...
...works with various local apps and cloud services. I use it to keep my life free of paper documents, but does probably a good job with images too. Cons: Documents with creases are prone to slide, resulting in distorted scans. Maybe it is inherent to the design of this type of compact scanners in general. Read more »

Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch unibody
Apple modestly tweaks the 13" Unibody but adds the Pro. Changes from the unibody MacBook (sans-pro) are generally welcome. The price was lowered by $100, a backlit keyboard, and Firewire 800 were added among other features. The non-removable battery performance is rated for 7 hours of screensaver watching, but seems to get 3-5 hours with normal use. The SD port addition is convenient, though several years behind OEM additions of multi-card readers. A new screen has improved brightness... Read more »

Was the iPhone a surprise, like the iPad? I understand that...
...everyone knew that both of them were coming for a long time, but when Steve Jobs introduced the iPad everything he showed was something the public had not seen before. The iPad only appeared in two spyshots, that came out the DAY BEFORE the announcement, were blurry, and the design of the iPad was obscured. I was not as into tech as much back then (my... Windows Phone 7 is Microsoft's upcoming successor to Windows Mobile, announced at Barcelona's Mobile World Congress in 2010. Alright, I'll be honest: The packaging is pretty cute....
