Sounds Like

Sounds Like was an off-site show at ICFF curated and spearheaded by designer Joey Roth, who sent his ceramic speakers to nine designers and in return, asked for a reinterpretation. The exhibit was on display during ICFF and will travel to Los Angeles later this year.

Oshibe by Tomomi Sayuda

Oshibe mean “stamen” in Japanese, and was what inspired Tomomi Sayuda to create this nest/music box/lamp/creative plaything. Also inspired by eggs, plants, light, and the moon, Sayuda created an interactive sculpture for both children and adults. When you place the eggs on the stamens, the eggs light up and music is played. Each stamen plays a different sound, and the sounds change according to the number and position of the eggs.

Zikmu Parrot by Starck

The Zikmu Parrot by Philippe Starck was released last year but they just came out with some fun, new colors: arctic white, pearl gray, and sorbet lime in addition to the original black. The wireless speaker system features compatibility with your iPhone and the lastest generation of iPod and iPod Touch — just affix it to the built-in dock. I remember seeing this in person at ICFF last year. The iLog is a wooden dock for your i-whatever created by Judson Beaumont’s Vancouver Company, Straight Line Designs Inc.
