Mel Gibson's Ex Tired of Seeing Him Painted as 'Heartless, Abusive Monster'Mel Gibson's family is backing him 100 percent in the wake of his audio rant fiasco, PEOPLE reports. Their source says Robyn Gibson, Mel's former wife of nearly 30 years, is particularly upset: "She still values her marriage to Mel and she is sick of the media portraying him as a heartless and abusive monster."

Though the two split in April 2009 following Gibson's involvement with now-baby-mama Oksana Grigorieva, Mel and Robyn reportedly speak regularly. The Gibsons have seven children together and they continue to raise them as a team, PEOPLE writes.

"Mel has a good support system in his friends and family," a friend of the couple tells PEOPLE, adding that Gibson's children are "absolutely" standing by him. "While they do think he needs help for his anger issues, Mel's family is supportive of him."

Tim Robbins Recorded 'Midlife Crisis' Album

Tim Robbins Recorded 'Midlife Crisis' AlbumSpeaking candidly with BBC's Radio 4, Tim Robbins said the trying times after his split with Susan Sarandon pushed him to record a collection of songs about the matter.

"A midlife crisis -- I think we all go through something, it's inevitable," Robbins, 51, is quoted in the Daily Telegraph. "It's when you pass 40, inherently we double our age when we think about life. You start thinking about how many years you've got left. 'What the hell am I doing here?' I asked myself. 'What is it that will make you happy? What is it you have not done that you will regret not doing?' "

Recording an album was apparently one facet of his new sense of purpose -- the 'Shawshank Redemption' and 'Mystic River' star will release a record later this year. "I was thinking about calling it 'The Midlife Crisis Album', but then I thought that's not going to sell any copies. Then I thought, 'How about Songs of Love and Misery'?"

Kim's Trumping Paris in the Celebutante Wars

Kim's Trumping Paris in the Celebutante WarsWe saw a picture of Paris Hilton accompanying an article about her faux drug bust in South Africa and almost thought, Paris who? Not really. Paris Hilton is certainly unforgettable in almost every way, but it did make us think about how Hilton has dropped off of our celebrity radar lately and how she has most certainly been usurped in the celebutante market by her former friend and assistant, and celebutante second-mover Kim Kardashian.

Paris Hilton has been a part of our world since 2003. Since then she has evolved from a club-hopping, panty-eschewing, party princess into a global brand.

And like most successful businesses, Hilton spawned imitators, other wealthy socialites who, because of their family money and their good looks also thought they deserved to be famous. In 2007 Kim Kardashian, Hilton's former friend entered the celebutante market, determined to reach Hilton levels of success. Kardashian used the Paris Hilton business model of utilizing personal exploitation to sell both her image and consumer goods, and as the second mover in the market was able to learn from Hilton's mistakes and did indeed become quite successful.

But now Kim has become so much more. Kim has used Keeping Up With the Kardashians as the mothership for various product extensions and have managed to cannibalize a lot of the consumer mindshare that used to belong to Paris Hilton.

Zsa Zsa Gabor Hospitalized After Bone-Breaking FallZsa Zsa Gabor, Hungarian actress and socialite for the ages, was hospitalized Saturday after she fell out of bed and broke several bones, the LA Times reports. The 93-year-old was listed in serious condition at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

Gabor was watching TV in her home in Bel-Air, California when she fell, publicist John Blanchette said. Gabor has been partially paralyzed since a 2002 car accident -- Blanchette describes her as "pretty much bedridden and wheelchair-bound for the last eight years."

"She's fragile, but she's still very bright -- she still makes me laugh," Blanchette said of recent visits with Gabor. "Her faculties are intact, but her body's failing her."

Look Out Barbra, Hubby James Brolin Is Looking To Go Crazy

By Bryan Alexander  Posted Jul 17th 2010 01:00PM
James Brolin and Barbra StreisandSometimes it's not easy to be uber-good looking while putting off that aura of power. James Brolin is sick and tired of playing countless politicians and confident millionaires onscreen.

He's planning to loosen up in a big way.

"It's either the rich guy or the politician, I hate playing those roles," Brolin tells PopEater. "In the future, I'm going to turn down anything that I don't feel I'm going to have fun with."

"You're going to see a very different me from now on," he says, as his new movie "Standing Ovation" is released.

You heard it here first -- no doubt after he broke the news to wife Barbra Streisand over the breakfast table -- James Brolin is looking to have some goofy movie fun even at his own expense. Don't call him for the rich, powerful guy parts. Call him for the old drunk dude or the crazy onscreen father to Mandy Moore.

In the upcoming picture "Love, Wedding, Marriage," Brolin plays a bonkers father whose long-time marriage breaks up. His spiral causes serious problems to his newlywed daughter Moore's marriage to Kellen Lutz. Mayhem follows.

"I'm just an off-the-wall father who is half crazy," says Brolin. "I love that because that's how I grew up. My whole family is a little nutty."

Oksana GrigorievaAs the battle wages on for Mel Gibson and ex Oksana Grigorieva, she continues to claim she didn't release the explicit, racist-ridden tapes or the photo of herself with broken teeth.

"I didn't release anything and I'm not happy with the lies being spread," she told PEOPLE. "But when the court is done with the investigation, then I'll be able to talk."

For now, Grigorieva is reaching out to her ex, former James Bond actor Timothy Dalton and explains he's a good shoulder to lean on.

Do Movies & TV Shows Have to Be Historically Accurate?

By Jane Boursaw  Posted Jul 17th 2010 08:00AM

    Pop-Ed:
How accurate do TV shows and movies have to be when it comes to telling real-life history? Is it OK to fudge the details to enhance the story? Or should the storyteller be a stickler for detail? While doing press for 'The Pacific' earlier this year, Tom Hanks told listeners of Dennis Miller's radio show that the HBO series wasn't really intended to be a "big picture" view of the war in the Pacific. Rather, it was all about the characters and their lives, how the war affected them and their loved ones. But since 'The Pacific' was based on real people, should the filmmakers have stayed true to their real-life stories?
