German designer Siren Elise Wilhelmsen exhibited her 365 knitting clock at DMY International Design Festival Berlin. The clock includes a circular knitting machine with 48 needles, a thread spool, a thread holder, and roll of yarn. The design seeks to make time a tangible, physical thing. It moves clockwise and after one year, creates a scarf two meters long.

Arquitectonika finished this great home in Argentina back in 2005. The back of the house is mostly glass and opens to the backyard via several sliding glass doors, in contrast to the front of the house, which looks very discreet. Well placed windows do double work for bringing the light in but also allow the owners to keep some privacy.

At the DMY International Design Festival Berlin, Tim Vinke showed his latest project, UNA, versatile modular seating. I can see this used as a side table with magazine rack, two together maybe as a coffee table, or a long chain of them as outdoor seating.
I was browsing what’s new over at Chiasso today and realized that they have a lot of modern planters, and some great new ribbed ones. Since Summer has officially hit, maybe it’s time to decorate that neglected patio space or bare corner?

Paul Loebach was born in 1972 into a long line of German carpenters and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He received a BFA in Industrial Design from Rhode Island School of Design in 2002 and immediately moved to New York after graduating to found his furniture design studio. He now works as a designer and manufacturing consultant with a broad range of American and European furniture companies, with over 200 designs currently in production at the age of 35. In addition to his consulting work, Paul produces a special line of products as a result of his ongoing explorations with cutting-edge production techniques. Imbued with historic reference and an eye for meticulously crafted detailing, Paul’s projects have become widely recognized for their ability to challenge our expectations of craft, technology, and the history of our manufactured environment. His work and writing has exhibited internationally and published broadly in books, blogs, and periodicals such as: Wallpaper*, Surface, The New York Times, and Architectural Record among others.

Workstead’s newest collection of lighting pieces will be carried by HORNE.
The Workstead Desk Lamp utilizes a re-purposed O.C. White industrial joint and brass socket. Painted steel shade available in black, blue, green, and red. The arm can be articulated in multiple axes; the joint allows for 360 of rotation. A laser-cut steel base counter-balances the articulation of the arms, to create a permanent fixture on any desk.

Our final 2010 Dwell on Design home tour is the West side Beitcher Residence by W3 Architects, located in Santa Monica. The two-story modern home has a great indoor-outdoor living space, lots of privacy thanks to an abundance of greenery, and a killer craft room.
