Rush Limbaugh Unloads NYC Penthouse for $11.5 Million

Back in March we reported that larger-than-life conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh had listed his pre-war Fifth Avenue penthouse for sale at $13.95 million after vowing to leave New York City. Following a $1 million price cut a month or so later, he has now found a buyer for the overdecorated spread who is shelling out about $11.5 million, according to the Wall St. Journal. The 20th-floor penthouse (above) at 1049 Fifth Avenue, which Limbaugh purchased in 1994, features 10 rooms with expansive Central Park and Reservoir views and four terraces, two of which face the park.

There's a double living room with a fireplace, a wood paneled library, large media room with a terrace, a kitchen with a breakfast room, a large dining room with two terraces, four bedrooms with en-suite baths, and his-and-hers dressing rooms and baths, each with an oversized tub and stall shower. There are hand painted mural ceilings and walls throughout by
artist Richard Smith and gold leaf moldings. The foyer entry floor is patterned Italian hand-cut marble with herringbone mahogany in the uncarpeted rooms, and walls are upholstered in Fortuny fabric. There's also a separate maid's room with bath on the third floor.

Jennifer Lopez Facing $40 Million Lawsuit After Concert Cancellation

Jennifer Lopez could be facing a $40 million lawsuit after canceling a planned concert in northern Cyprus. Lopez was booked to perform on July 24 at the Cratos Premium hotel and casino complex but she has decided not to go through with the show for "political" reasons. Lopez, Marc Anthony and their two children were due to stay at the hotel.

The booking outraged Greek Cypriots in the southern part of the island nation because they felt that performing in the north would be making a political statement in support of the northern regime. The island of Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when it was occupied by Turkey. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is only recognized by Turkey .
The singer faced criticism for the event and a Facebook protest against the concert has over 21,000 members. The concert scheduled for Lopez's 41st birthday, reportedly would have paid $3 million. The hotel owner has said that he will withdraw the suit if Lopez follows through on her obligation.

New Guide to Ithaca's Wonderful Waterfalls

Ithaca is New York's consummate college town, best known as the home of Cornell University. School's out for summer, which means it's a great time to visit one of the area's other great attractions: the waterfalls, of which there are more than 100 of in the Ithaca area.

The Ithaca Visitors Bureau has just released a free field guide to the city's famous gorges and waterfalls, covering 19 public-access waterfalls near downtown Ithaca. (My favorite since my college days is pictured above -- that's Robert Treman State Park.) Some of these waterfalls are already on your GPS no doubt -- the 215-foot Taughannock Falls -- but some are considered local secrets, like Potter's Falls, located in a wildflower preserve. That's too bad for the locals. But lucky for you.

At one point James lived in the home with his now ex-wife Sandra Bullock. James has said he wishes to leave Southern California behind for a little while and settle in Austin, Texas.

James bought the four-bedroom beach house in 2003 when he was still with married to his second wife Janine Lindemulder. The property is right on the beach and on the street side it has a courtyard that offers a modicum of privacy. Listing info states that the home was newly remodeled from the ground up in 2002. Boucheron Reflet XL Château Latour Millésime 2005 Watch

Now here is a limited edition watch which has a wooden dial made from a 200 year old barrel in oak that was used to mature a very good French wine. That news alone should excite enough people to buy it. Wood is used on watches from time to time with various themes. Often meant to evoke a look similar to sail boats or classic car interiors. Here however the theme is French wine, and Boucheron can only take half the credit for the timepiece. Actually, a little bit less. Inside the Boucheron Reflet XL Château Latour Millésime 2005 is a Girard Perregaux Calibre GP4000 automatic movement.

From Château Latour comes the grand Millésime 2005 vintage wine. Considered quite a special collection, I don't think any of the wine is due to come with each of the 100 watches. The dials of the watches are made from specially selected wood used for the barrels to age the wine that is 200 years old. I like the clever design element where a barrel shape is place in the middle of the dial. That motif is extended to the engraving in the square steel case that is 31.5 x 45mm in size. Is that really "XL?" Of course it is pretty - most Boucheron pieces are. Pricey too, at $14,200 for each of the 100 pieces. Are you sure it doesn't come with wine?
