The FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup must be exposed for the utter sham that it is. The ZACF strongly condemns the audacity and hypocrisy of the government in presenting the occasion as a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity for the economic and social upliftment of those living in South Africa (and the rest of the continent).

What is glaringly clear is that the “opportunity” is and continues to be that of a feeding-frenzy for global and domestic capital and the South African ruling elite. In fact, if anything, the event is more likely to have devastating consequences for South Africa’s poor and working class – a process that is already underway.

Following the murderous attack by the Israeli Defence Forces on the civilian convoy carrying humanitarian aid to the beseiged Gaza Strip, an Israeli anarchist writes from Tel Aviv on the reactions to the attacks by the Israeli left.

"We knew it would not be nice, but we could not guess how brutal and mindless it would be. We had planned and prepared during the weeks and when the time was known,- we prepared for reciprocal actions. The surprise and the shock we experienced when got the news on the piracy on the high sea of Israel - in international waters - about 150 kilometers from the shore of Gaza, cannot be described."

The following is an interview on the Greek crisis with Constantinos Avramidis – a Greek resident in Ireland, member of the Workers Solidarity Movement and of the post workers union.

"We don’t know how situation will progress. We lack many things to make the situation progress, but the worst scenario will be that the military takes over. That may mean that Greece would be expelled from the EU in the worst possible way. And this way the IMF could impose their will through a dictator as the US has done in the past. That’s the worst case scenario.

I have the feeling that the army has no will to intervene, there is a broader political spectre within the army now that would make such a decision difficult. Otherwise, I don’t see how the capitalists will impose the reforms. The people have had enough."

Η ελληνική εργατική τάξη είναι θυμωμένη και με καλό λόγο, με την προσπάθεια του να φορτωθεί η ευθύνη για την πτώχευση του ελληνικού κράτους στους ώμους της. Πιστεύουμε, αντίθετα, ότι είναι τα διεθνή χρηματοπιστωτικά ιδρύματα και η Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση αυτοί οι οποίοι είναι υπεύθυνοι. Τα χρηματοπιστωτικά ιδρύματα έχουν βυθίσει τον κόσμο, και ειδικότερα την Ελλάδα, σε μια οικονομική και κοινωνική κρίση ιστορικής σημασίας, υποχρεώνοντας τις χώρες σε χρέη, και τώρα αυτά τα ίδια τα ιδρύματα παραπονούνται ότι ορισμένα κράτη-μέλη υπάρχει κίνδυνος να μην είναι σε θέση να εξοφλήσουν τα χρέη τους.

Η Ελλάδα είναι μια υπόθεση και ένα πεδίο πειραματισμού για την κοινωνική διάλυση που περιμένει όλους μας. Η πολιτική αυτή θεσπίζεται από όλα τα καθεστωτικά κόμματα, από κάθε αστό φιλελεύθερο και σοσιαλδημοκράτη, από κάθε κυβέρνηση και από όλα τα θεσμικά όργανα του παγκοσμιοποιημένου καπιταλισμού. Υπάρχει μόνο ένας τρόπος για να συγκρατήσουμε αυτή την πολιτική του βάρβαρου καπιταλισμού: η λαϊκή και εργατική άμεση δράση, η διεύρυνση του απεργιακού κινήματος και η ένταση των διαδηλώσεων σε ολόκληρη την Ευρώπη.

“Desinformar a la población que se encuentra a favor de los detractores del gobierno”; “generar división al interior de los movimientos de oposición”; “impedir la materialización de escenarios convocados por la oposición”; “concientizar a la población sobre la realidad de la ideología comunista”…

Éstos y otros son algunos de los objetivos y estrategias plasmadas en una serie de documentos incautados en las oficinas del DAS. Salieron a la luz pública hace un par de semanas, evidenciando un hecho que hoy por hoy es innegable: un plan de gobierno que busca minimizar al máximo todo brote político disidente y contradictor.
