About Geeklog

Geeklog is an open source application for managing dynamic web content. It is written in PHP and supports MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MS SQL as the database backend.

"Out of the box", Geeklog is a CMS, or a blog engine with support for comments, trackbacks, multiple syndication formats, spam protection, and all the other vital features of such a system.

The core Geeklog distribution can easily be extended by the many community developed plugins and other add-ons to radically alter its functionality. Available plugins include forums, image galleries, and many more.

Geeklog 1.7.0 is now available for download.

This release adds support for PostgreSQL (in addition to MySQL and MS SQL), developed by Stan Palatnik during the Google Summer of Code 2009. It also adds a re-authentication option in case the CSRF token expires, thus preventing loss of data. For other improvements, please see the list of changes. Of course, it also addresses the latest security issue.

We would also like to thank all those students again who applied for the Google Summer of Code 2010 and submitted patches for Geeklog. Some of them already made it into 1.7.0, the rest is scheduled for inclusion into Geeklog 1.7.1. We will also be looking into adding more of our successful GSoC projects from 2009 into that release.

Dokuwiki plugin 1.7.0 is out

DokuWiki (2009-12-25c “Lemming” ) is a standards compliant, simple to use Wiki, mainly aimed at creating documentation of any kind with your Geeklog v1.6.0+. It is targeted at developer teams, workgroups and small companies. It has a simple but powerful syntax which makes sure the datafiles remain readable outside the Wiki and eases the creation of structured texts. All data is stored in plain text files – no database is required.

DokuWiki plugin 1.7.0 has the following system requirements:

* PHP 5.1.2 and higher.
* This integration is based on Geeklog v1.6.0 and do not work with older versions.

What is new in this release:

* Last dokuwiki version
* Support for geeklog autotags in dokuwiki pages.
* Support for geeklog online configuration

The new CAPTCHA implementation for Geeklog v1.4.1 or higher is out. CAPTCHA provides additional protections against spam bots registering or posting on your system.

With Geeklog v1.7.0, there is full support built into Geeklog to support the CAPTCHA plugin with the following features:

* New User Registration
* Comments
* Email User
* Email Story
* Story submission
* Remote Users
* Calendar submission
* Links submission
* Forum plugin
* Mediagallery plugin
* Rating plugin

Please consider upgrading soon as this new release fix some bugs introduced in a past version and provide a new design (see picture in the download area).
