It seems as if Michael Vick can't catch a break. The NFL and the Philadelphia Eagles are investigating a shooting that took place Friday morning outside a nightclub in Virginia Beach, where Vick was hosting a birthday party.

Many speculated that Vick was at the scene of the crime, but according to media and police reports, the quarterback was not involved or present when the shooting took place at 2 a.m. Vick's lawyer, Larry Woodward, confirmed the information on Friday.

Dwyane Wade Divorce

Okay, I'm not one to get in to whether Dwyane Wade or any other celebrity athlete is able to remain married when we all know that the chances of a twentysomething NBA star staying happily married are about as good as Glenn Beck joining the Nation of Islam. One athlete after another tries it, and most of them fail. What's worse is that when they do fail, they fail to the tune of several milion dollars going in to the bank account of a woman they now hate. This is not to say that athletes shouldn't get married, but after seeing Tiger's wife rake him for a reported $750 million, it makes one wonder if there is a better way to do this.

Serena Williams Looks to Defend Wimbledon Title, Wins First MatchEarlier this month, Serena Williams was busy shaking off her ousting at the French Open. She lost to Samantha Stosur in the quarterfinals, and despite getting the doubles title with sister Venus, it left a bad taste in her mouth.

She's now looking to redeem herself in this week's Wimbledon tournament with the hopes of winning her second straight. She won in 2009 after defeating Venus.

"I approach every match the same, really, whether I'm here or at a tournament in North or South Carolina," Serena told the L.A. Times. "I just kind of look at it all the same. You do the best you can and try just to go for it. Wimbledon is cool, though. It's a good feeling to be among so many champions. I really do enjoy the atmosphere."

Tiger Woods Misses His Daughter's Birthday

Radar Online is reporting that Tiger Woods broke a promise to his family that he wouldn't miss another one of his children's birthdays. Tiger's daughter, Sam, turned 3 on June 18, and reportedly Tiger was nowhere to be found. According to the site's primary source, Woods made a promise to fly Sam out to California at the time of her birthday: "It never happened. Instead, Elin had a birthday party for her at the house in Florida."

Tiger spoke back in April about what he missed while in rehab, including the first birthday of his 1-year-old son, Charlie. "Because of the time frame of it, I missed my son's first birthday and that hurts. That hurts a lot, and I vowed I'd never miss another one after that. I can't go back to where I was," he said.

It's hard to agree with or justify why a man would deliberately miss the birthdays of his young children. If it is the case that Tiger simply squelched his responsibility, then that cannot be excused. The years we have with our children simply cannot be replaced, and we all know that.

Reggie Bush pledges to Help USC fight NCAA sanctionsLast week, the hammer came down on the University of Southern California after the NCAA found the school guilty of allowing New Orleans Saint Reggie Bush and his family receive improper benefits from marketing agents during his time as a student-athlete.

Bush spoke to the Associated Press for the first time since the punishment was announced but didn't respond to any of the allegations:

"This thing, regarding USC and the NCAA, is the closest thing to death without dying because I have such a great love and respect for the university," Bush told the Associated Press.

"This has been one the toughest things I've had to deal with in my life. I believe that there's a lot of untold truth to this matter, there's a lot of fabricated lies to this matter, but it is what it is, and I can't sit here and cry about it. I can't sit here and make up excuses. Ultimately, it's a responsibility that's placed on USC and my shoulders. It's because of me. So all I can do is continue to try to help them and move forward with the situation. God works in mysterious ways and at the end of the day I think this, too, shall pass and hopefully we can grow stronger from this."

Former NBA Player Manute Bol Dies at 47When Manute Bol played basketball from 1985 to 1995, he was usually the biggest guy on the court at 7-foot-7. More recently, though, he was known as one of the biggest humanitarians to come out of the league.

Bol died over the weekend due to complications from kidney failure and Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, a condition that causes the skin to separate from the dermis. He was 47.

"Sudan and the world have lost a hero and an example for all of us," Tom Prichard, executive director of the group Sudan Sunrise, told the Associated Press. "Manute, we'll miss you. Our prayers and best wishes go out to all his family, and all who mourn his loss." Bol worked closely with Sudan Sunrise doing humanitarian work in his home country.

In May, Bol returned from Sudan, after helping build a school. When he arrived in Washington, he was rushed to the hospital and has been hospitalized ever since. It's believed that the kidney medications he was taking in Africa contributed to the skin disease.

Bol joined the NBA in 1985 with the Washington Bullets and moved around the league, playing for Golden State, Philadelphia and Miami.

Tiger Woods

For a minute, Superman pulled off his cape and showed the world that he is still as great as he was before the sex scandal, but it was only a matter of time before Clark Kent took his place.

Tiger Woods
excited crowds and blew up TV ratings with his outstanding play on Saturday during the U.S. Open. He secured a stellar 66 on an incredibly difficult course, leading some to wonder if he was back to old form. Woods pulled himself back in to contention in the tournament, entering Sunday's play in third place. He even had the door opened for him when Dustin Johnson, who'd taken a commanding lead over the field, engaged in one of the most historical meltdowns in U.S. Open history.

michael jordan's son kobe bryant

It would seem that the last person to criticize Kobe Bryant for not living up to the legacy of Michael Jordan would be either of Jordan's sons. Marcus Jordan, the son of Michael, has spent his entire life being ridiculed for the fact that he never has been or will be even a fraction of what his father once was. No one dogs Marcus out for the fact that he can't live up to Michael, because no one really can. The problem is that Marcus decided that he was going to attack Kobe Bryant (you know, the guy in Los Angeles with five championship rings), for not matching up to his father's playing ability.

The NBA season is officially over and the world has been wondering if LeBron James is leaving or staying in Cleveland.

Not very many people have been wondering about Allen Iverson's plans. But to make sure he's in the conversation, Iverson has let his manager know that he's working on becoming available for the 2010-11 season.
"Allen is working out and he's getting himself prepared to make his return," Iverson's personal manager Gary Moore told the Associated Press. "He absolutely will try and play next year. Allen wants to come and help a team win a championship, which he's completely capable of doing."

Iverson is still signed to the Philadelphia Sixers but took a leave of absence in March to be with his 4-year-old daughter who was suffering from an unknown illness. That same month, Iverson's wife Tawanna filed for divorce.
