Country Stars Celebrate Father's Day
The Boot took our cameras to the CMT Music Awards' red carpet to find out what your favorite stars are planning for Father's Day ... along with the one best piece of advice they got from dear old Dad.
Alan Jackson & Daughters Share Special Father's Day Tradition
Alan Jackson and his daughters have a special Father's Day tradition -- combining cake and the lake. The holiday is doubly special for Alan's oldest daughter, Mattie, who was born two days after Father's Day.
"From day one, I have always been a daddy's girl," Mattie shares with the readers of Cooking With Paula Deen magazine. "Not because my dad is Alan Jackson or because he has sold 50 million albums, but because he and I have always lived life with the same hopeful, easygoing disposition. While we may never know why children inherit certain qualities from their parents, I can't help but believe in my case it has something to do with the date of my birth."

Martina McBride Isn't 'Kid'-ding With Her Latest Collaboration
Martina McBride has been involved with a few different collaborators through the years, including pianist Jim Brickman ('Valentine'), Big & Rich ('Live This Life'), Clint Black ('Still Holding On') and the late Dean Martin on the Christmas classic, 'Baby, It's Cold Outside.' One collaboration that's got a few people scratching their heads is 'Care,' the song she recorded with rapper T.I and Kid Rock, included on the Detroit rocker's forthcoming album, 'Born Free.'
"Everybody says to me, 'Well, that's a weird pairing, you and Kid Rock,' but it doesn't feel weird when we're together and we're performing," the singer tells The Boot. "And it's just exciting to me that he has singled me out to be a part of his project. I think that's really cool; it's an honor."

Charlie Daniels Hosts a 'Star-Spangled' Opry Special
Charlie Daniels was patriotic before patriotic was cool which is undoubtedly why he's been tapped to host America's Opry Weekend 'Star-Spangled Special' during the upcoming Independence Day weekend. To find a radio station near you that carries the show, check the Grand Ole Opry website.
Charlie will share live cuts from the Opry stage and other musical salutes to the U.S.A. by artists including Carrie Underwood ('All American Girl'), Brad Paisley ('Water'), Lady Antebellum ('American Honey'), Josh Turner ('Firecracker'), and, of course, Charlie's own tunes 'In America' -- released in 1980 in response to the Iran hostage crisis -- and his classic hit 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia.'

Reba McEntire, Darius Rucker + More Celebrate Dad
As kids, most of us don't think the advice we get from our parents has any merit to it. Once we are a little older, we realize how smart our mom and dad really were! Sunday is Father's Day and The Boot had the opportunity to get a few comments from different artists about advice they received from their father, along with some of their own personal joys of being a dad.
Reba McEntire says her dad was initially confused by her first chosen career. "Daddy always said he couldn't understand why I wanted to do something I wasn't good at, which was rodeoing. It always aggravated him because he thought I had something a little different in my singing. So I guess the best advice for me was to quit rodeoing and stick with my singing!"
Justin Moore became a first-time dad a few months ago, to daughter Ella Kole. "It's crazy how it changes your whole method of thinking on everything, being a dad. People can tell you that until you're blue in the face. Until you're actually holding your daughter or your son, you don't realize it, but it's really cool. My dad actually told me I was going to be a dad last Father's Day when I got off the road. It's cool to see how things have changed since last year at this time.
Randy Houser's advice from his dad was simple. "'Life is too short to dance with ugly women.' It's kind of sad but that's what he told me."

Jimmy Dean's Final Resting Place Will Be Piano-Shaped Mausoleum
Jimmy Dean, the singer-songwriter, movie and TV star and sausage entrepreneur who died June 13 at age 81, will be laid to rest in a piano-shaped granite mausoleum.
CMT reports that the nine-and-a-half-foot long tomb, which he purchased several years ago at a cost of $350,000, is located near the banks of the James River on the late entertainer's property in Varina, Va. The mausoleum will be inscribed with the epitaph, "Here lies one hell of a man," which is a reference to the lyrics of his 1961 pop-country hit, 'Big Bad John.'

Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw + More Talk Dad's Day
Father's Day is Sunday, June 20, and many of your favorite country artists will be celebrating this weekend. They share with us what they've learned from their fathers, what it's like to be a dad and the things they hope to pass on to their own children.
Brad Paisley, the proud papa of three-year-old Huck and one-year-old Jasper, says he may soon forget what it was like not being a father. "You feel like what you've done up until now is to prepare yourself for this, and that starts to be a memory that you associate with your kids. So, I can see how eventually, I won't be able to remember who I was before, because it does change you. It's already changed me a little bit, and it'll change me more with every heart attack [they] give me!"
Rascal Flatts' Jay DeMarcus says his father told him "to be the lead singer because they got all the attention and all the women. And I wished I would've listened to my father now." The Flatts real lead singer Gary LeVox says his dad's advice was: "Never eat yellow snow." Jay adds, "Liquor before beer, never fear. Beer before liquor, never sicker. That's what my dad taught me, and I've followed that to a T." That was pretty normal advice with the way the guys grew up. "All our dads have always played honky-tonks, so we've always gotten [that] kind of guidance in our life," explains Gary.
