The Credit Suisse logo is pictured at a bank's branch in Zurich, Switzerland, Nov. 2, 2006. Credit Suisse Group, Switzerland's second-biggest bank, said falling credit markets and pricing errors by traders will cut first-quarter profit by $1 billion. Credit Suisse reduced the value of asset-backed securities by $2.85 billion, the Zurich-based bank said in an e-mailed statement today. It is also assessing whether 2007 earnings could be affected by the pricing errors. The writedowns reflect significant adverse first quarter 2008 market developments and are the result of an internal review that is still continuing, Credit Suisse said. The bank's total net writedowns on debt securities and loans last year amounted to 2 billion Swiss francs ($1.8 billion), it said last week. Credit Suisse makes $2.4 billion profit in Q3
