WE DON’T NEED ANOTHER HERO Manny Pacquiao will do, thank you. The Philippine Daily Inquirer honors him as the 2008 Filipino of the Year, the second time he’s so cited which elevates him to the Inquirer People Hall of Fame. The first time was in 2003 when for the first time, the editors voted for a sports figure as the Filipino of the Year. Since 1991, this honor has been bestowed yearly on a living Filipino who has made the most positive impact on the life of the nation. Pacquiao cometh to the Inquirer on Thursday, and the rank and file from every nook and cranny of the paper’s four-story building in Makati City stream out to celebrate the man as our national treasure.
