Blip.tv for DevelopersWe've developed a suite of application programming interfaces for blip.tv designed to make it incredibly easy to build applications that use portions of our advanced media management, transcoding, distribution and advertising functionality. A couple APIs to choose fromOur APIs are documented in detail on the blip.tv wiki, which is password protected. The username and password to access the wiki are in the authentication prompt we're just using them to deter spambots. You may be particularly interested in the main blip.tv API, which is built on the back of open standards like RSS and JSON. If you're looking for a very powerful API and are okay with using something that eschews open standards for custom-built call and response, you'll want to check out the extremely powerful blip.tv API 2.0, which was developed by blip.tv for an enterprise customer. Libraries for accessing blip.tv programatically
Software with blip.tv baked inFolks are building blip.tv support into their sites, services and software. Here are some examples.
Software we're distributing for freeFrom time to time we write little utilities that help us run blip. We try to release these as open source software as much as possible, as long as they aren't part of our "secret sauce."
Open source software we useWe've been extremely fortune to be able to build blip on top of some fantastic open source software. Tons of thanks to the guys who built the software referenced below... we couldn't have built blip without their fanatical support.
Let us know about your projectWe're aware of several ongoing projects utilizing the blip.tv APIs, including a WordPress plug-in and a Drupal module. Please drop us a line at support@blip.tv if you'd like to build an application using the blip.tv APIs. We'd be happy to help you out. |
