We've developed a suite of application programming interfaces for blip.tv designed to make it incredibly easy to build applications that use portions of our advanced media management, transcoding, distribution and advertising functionality.

A couple APIs to choose from

Our APIs are documented in detail on the blip.tv wiki, which is password protected. The username and password to access the wiki are in the authentication prompt — we're just using them to deter spambots.

You may be particularly interested in the main blip.tv API, which is built on the back of open standards like RSS and JSON. If you're looking for a very powerful API and are okay with using something that eschews open standards for custom-built call and response, you'll want to check out the extremely powerful blip.tv API 2.0, which was developed by blip.tv for an enterprise customer.

Software we're distributing for free

From time to time we write little utilities that help us run blip. We try to release these as open source software as much as possible, as long as they aren't part of our "secret sauce."

• Sivitols Microformats Java Library is a Java library for parsing microformats.
  • Currently only xFolk RC-1 is supported.
  • Licensed under the LGPL.
