Patient numbers are expected to increase as people slowly begin to move more freely in their neighborhoods and seek out medical assistance.  MSF teams are carrying out assessments in various locations in Gaza to determine overall levels of medical needs, including at gathering points of internally displaced persons.

Cholera cases are also being found in neighbouring countries and MSF is responding as needed. It is believed that these cases are the result of the normal cholera season and are not related to the cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe.

The results of an eight-month trial showed that those children who had received the energy-dense fortified ready-to-use food had a 58 percent lower chance of suffering from severe acute malnutrition.

"Highly nutritious ready-to-use food (RUF) is recommended by the UN for the treatment of severe acute malnutrition," said Rebecca Freeman Grais, one of the leading authors for Epicentre, the research affiliate of the international medical aid organization MSF. "But this controlled study demonstrates how ready-to-use food can also prevent malnutrition.

MSF reinforces activities in the temporary settlement of Patras, Greece, following yesterday's destructive fire

The MSF team in Patras distributed 450 sleeping bags last night with the support of the Red Cross, other local organizations and volunteer networks. Moreover, the MSF team that is working on a daily basis in the temporary settlement was reinforced, while an MSF tent was set up so that the team continues to offer medical and psychological support to the population.

Two patients have come from contact with infected patients. The third has no contact with an ebola patient. It is necessary to monitor "contact people" to break the line of contamination of the Ebola outbreak. The MSF team on the ground is currently following-up about 200 people every day.
