PEOPLE'S BAIL-OUT RALLY in MEDFORD, OREGON
SOUTHERN OREGON JOBS WITH JUSTICE, 12.12.2008 - 18:4012/12/08, Medford, Oregon--Twenty folks stood on the busy street corner at Crater Lake Ave. & Stevens St. today, right in front of Bank of America. It was a cold one as the first severe weather advisory of the season had already been declared: Massive Snowstorm tonight will paint the Rogue Valley white. In the cold today it was easy to remember the huddled masses during the depression who stood in soup lines.
Today's protestors called attention to the United States' tanking economy and the attacks on the working class that make those old photos of the 1930's somehow jump up and take center stage again. History does tend to repeat itself and the plight of the working class might well be headed for soup lines and huddled unemployed masses again. Times are getting very tough for hard working Americans. There is a palatable War On The Workers today. You can feel it in the air.

Editorial note: Noah Jacobs in previous stories has been known as Noah Balloon. These are the same person. Learn about the horrific police brutality that took place at the Republican National Convention. Support Noah and his appeal for justice, and demand accountability for the fascist actions of these goons in Minnesota.
Rogue Valley activist is called to St. Paul, Minnesota for jury trial on week from today, on December 15th. Due to circumstances beyond his control, he cannot attend this court date. He has appealed to the court for continuance of his trial, only to be denied it for petty political reasons. He is requesting that you call some of the bigwigs in the Twin Cities and demand continuance!

Remembering a Media Pioneer: Greg Carr
Vanessa Houk, 03.12.2008 - 08:18In late October, Greg Carr's body was found in the doorway of a Sacramento muffler shop. Greg had been living on the streets of Sacramento for most of a decade and had been a watchdog for Sacramento's homeless population. This is my reaction to hearing about the last years of his life and of his death.

Time for Building a Sweat-Free Ashland, Oregon
No Sweatshop Procurement Resolution, 27.11.2008 - 11:47SweatFree Ashland Campaign
Southern Oregon Jobs with Justice is bringing forth a No Sweatshop Procurement resolution calling upon Ashland, Oregon to join a coalition of municipalities across the country that have pledged to become sweatshop free.
At the December 2, 2008, 7pm, Ashland City Council meeting it is expected the city will pass a resolution to move the city towards purchasing policies for employee-worn garments & apparel that are not made in sweatshops. This is to ensure that public tax dollars are not being spent to support factories that exploit and endanger workers.
Some of those practices include child labor, requiring 12-hour days, six to seven days a week with no overtime pay, and requiring female employees to submit to pregnancy tests and then firing them if they are found to be pregnant.
"The City of Ashland should ensure that its employees' uniforms aren't coming from sweatshops", states Wes Brain, Chair of Southern Oregon Jobs with Justice.
Keep reading to learn more about the Sweat-Free Movement and to view the resolution which has been submitted to the Ashland City Council.
