Election day in Fort Collins, CO was marked by a number of anti-electoral politics actions, critical of both the Democratic and Republican campaigns and the system as a whole that they represent.

Colorado Indymedia is *temporarily* installing a new service on our site to stop spam. As many of you know, spam has been causing major problems for our site and the CAPTCHA wasn't stopping it all. Part of this was caused by the upgrade to Drupal 6, which we did for security reasons.

On Monday, October 20th, a group of Junction activists stepped off the curb at 12th St. and North Ave. in an effort to halt Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin’s motorcade. The Grand Junction Police, having never encountered civil disobedience of this type, responded with excessive force to move protesters out of the roadway.

I can’t help but feel a sense of disillusionment when government agencies, supposedly designed to protect and serve the public, consistently use censorship and dishonesty to further the needs of industry and large corporations. There was a time when I was much younger when I trusted and believed in our government.

The annual protest of the Columbus Day Holiday and the racism that it embodies will begin with a march from Four Winds that ends at the Capitol Building followed by a rally for a better future.
