"As they create global connections between their zones of production and consumption, we must create connections between the local and global struggles against neoliberalism, ecocide, and corporate globalization."
The emergence of multinational bodies (e.g. the World Trade Organization) and the creation of massive free trade zones (e.g. ASEAN, EU, or NAFTA), which have heralded the emergence of a new era of unfettered corporate domination of the earth, are not the only or even the most important aspects of globalization. Instead, we must also begin to examine and resist the gigantic infrastructure projects that are necessitated by the exponential expansion of trade across borders.

BlackBox Radio is an all-volunteer group comprised of students and non-students from the Ann Arbor area. There are opportunities to get involved in many ways, including research, field recording, interviewing, audio editing, and more.

This week Catalyst radio speaks with David Sanchez Juliao and Dr. Emilio A. Garcia-Mendez, who are the keynote speakers at the GVSU 8th annual Conference on the Americas. March Conference Explores the Future of Organic Farming in Michigan |

The Michigan Organic Food & Farm Alliance (MOFFA), Organic Growers of Michigan and Michigan State University are co-sponsoring the 2008 Michigan Organic Agriculture Conference--Growing Michigan\\\\'s Organic Future, on Saturday, March 5, from 8 am to 6 pm.
The keynote speaker is Maynard Kaufman, a founding member of MOFFA and current board member. Maynard will present his thoughts on the future in a presentation titled "Organic Farming and the Organic Way of Life." Maynard is a retired professor from Western Michigan University in Environmental Studies. In 1973, he started a homestead farm for students to experience self-sufficiency and harmony with their environment.

White Supremacist National Alliance Again Distributing Leaflets in West Michigan |

The white supremacist group, the National Alliance, is once again distributing leaflets (previous Media Mouse update on the National Alliance) in the West Michigan area according to reports in the corporate press. In a post on the web site for the National Vanguard, the National Alliance\\\\'s magazine, National Alliance members in Michigan reveal that they are emboldened by WOOD TV 8\\\\'s coverage of the leafleting. They claim that the report by "a Jewish television reporter name \\\\'Jam Sarder\\\\'" showed a "distinctly unappealing White women apparently involved in multiple interracial relationships" while conveying their message of white purity and detailing how they favor "a proud White America."
Despite considerable infighting within the group and a membership of only 1,000, the National Alliance has been fairly active in the past year promoting "white rights" and the supremacy of the white race. Throughout the mid-1990s Michigan had considerable National Alliance activity and it seems to be picking up over the past year, with leafleting and even "organizing" meetings being held in Michigan.
