Automatic Identification of Objects within Images
Antonio Torralba, Assistant Professor at CSAIL, is trying to figure out what is the smallest amount of data that is needed by a computer to recognize an object within an image. So far he has found that it only takes a few pixels of information for the computer to accomplish this task. His research will have an impact in automatic identification and indexing of images on the internet as well as in the area of machine vision. This project has had great success in automatically identifying some of the more common objects we see in images.
