About W3C: W3C Meetings

One of the most valuable benefits of W3C Membership is the opportunity for participants to develop working relationships with colleagues in many organizations, in many parts of the world. To bring people together and foster these relationships, W3C organizes several Membership-wide meetings each year (see the upcoming schedule below):

Workshops: W3C organizes these meetings (see upcoming and past Workshops) to bring W3C Members and Public together for an exchange of ideas about a technology or policy. In many cases, W3C starts new work after a successful Workshop.
W3C Advisory Committee Meeting: Held twice annually, this Member-only meeting focuses on strategic issues facing the Consortium and future directions envisioned by the Membership and Team.
W3C Technical Plenary: Once annually, all W3C Working, Interest, and Coordination Groups meet for a week to "cross-pollinate". This well-attended and popular week of meetings is an important means for W3C to coordinate solutions to technical issues that cross group borders. W3C makes public Technical Plenary discussions.

W3C has also organized special Membership-wide meetings to celebrate W3C's Tenth Anniversary (in the USA and France). W3C is planning another anniversary celebration in Japan in the fourth quarter of 2006.

W3C Members and Team also present W3C work in talks at many external conferences and W3C has a strong presence -- the "W3C Track" -- at the annual World Wide Web Conference, although W3C does not run that conference. The public is invited to attend, to ask questions, to give feedback, and to talk with the Members and Team. Except where marked as "under consideration," dates and locations are set for planning purposes and any changes will be posted well in advance of the meeting.
