Keio University merges with Kyoritsu University of Pharmacy and establishes the Faculty of Pharmacy and Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Update: 11 April 2008

On 1 April 2008, Keio University merged with Kyoritsu University of Pharmacy, and has established the Faculty of Pharmacy and Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Since receiving an unofficial proposal from Kyoritsu in October 2005,we are deeply grateful for those who have given us positive understanding and warm support along the way.

Many discussions were held in the process of the merger, and in December 2006, Preliminary Agreement was exchanged. Further discussions followed toward agreeing on a merger agreement, and in March 2007, the two universities signed the Merger Agreement. Within the last year, we built up a list of what is necessary for the merger, proceeded with the preparations including establishing the Keio-Kyoritsu Merger Board, and have worked in close cooperation with those involved.

Preserving the longstanding educational philosophy of the Kyoritsu University of Pharmacy and its proven performance in education, research, social contribution and international cooperation, Keio University will work together to establish a new comprehensive model of pharmacy education, research, social contribution and international cooperation for the future of Japan and the world. We thank you in advance for your continued support for the activities of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and other related organizations.
