Alra’ad opened a rehabilitation centre and vocational training

Following is the most important aspect of the Federation’s activities, highlighted during last year :

The FIOE issued letters of condemnation against threats to the security of European and Islamic countries.

In Brussels, President of the FIOE, Mr. Chakib Ben Makhlouf, met with the leadership of the Christian lobby in Europe in presence of the President of the Islamic Association in Belgium, the head of youth dep. in FIOE and Dr. Karim Shamlal. They discussed ways of cooperation in the common issues, such as maintaining the family, along with issues related to homosexuality and drug problems.

The Federation issued a number of statements denouncing the Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples, calling for the application of the international law to all without discrimination. These statements have been circulated to all members of the European Parliament and the European and Arabic media, and a number of the Islamic and international news agencies.

The President of the FIOE Chakib Ben Makhlouf accompanied by the Secretary General Dr. Ayman `Ali and the head of the finance department, Mr. Ahmed Ash-Sheikh, paid a visit to the Gulf, where they had 25 meetings with influential figures in both the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

On his visit to Bulgaria the FIOE President met the Adviser to the Bulgarian President. In that meeting, Mr. Chakib introduced the FIOE objectives and explained its policy to guide Muslims to serve their European countries.

In Switzerland, the Islamic Association held a specialized course on the production and direction of documentary films in cooperation with Al-Jazeera Satellite channel.

In Italy, the League of Italy organized a course on the basics and features of Western civilization.

In France, the Union of Islamic organizations in France held its annual conference, attended by a galaxy of scholars and thinkers, Muslims and non-Muslims. The number of attendants amounted to 140 thousand participants.

In Spain, the Islamic Association for Dialogue and Coexistence organized a youth camp in Valencia in March. In the meantime, translations of the meanings of the Qur’an were distributed as a distinct step towards introducing Islam.

In Brussels, the Association of the Belgian Muslims organized a course on the methodology of teaching Islamic education.

The FIOE public relations department held a gathering in Brussels to introduce the Federation of Islamic Organizations in Europe and its activities. The meeting was attended by delegations from the church and civil institutions; on top of them was the Belgian organization against racism.

In Norway, the Islamic Association, in cooperation with the Council of the Norwegian church, and with the sponsorship of the World Body for New Muslims in Jeddah, organized a forum for dialogue that was attended by the mayor of Oslo and a number of Christian and Muslim figures including Dr.

`Ali Al-Qura Daghi, Sheikh Salah Ad-Din Kuftaro, Dr. Khalid Ar-Rumaih and Dr. Kanzah Al-Ghali.

The FIOE Secretary General, Dr. Ayman `Ali, represented the Federation in this forum.

In Sweden, the Islamic Association organized its annual conference with the participation of many intellectuals from the Muslim world and a number of Swedish officials. The conference was attended by a large gathering of Muslims. It is worth mentioning that the Islamic Association in Sweden declared that the number of visitors to the Sheikh Zayed’s mosque, may Allah have mercy on him, in 2007 amounted up to 15000 from among the Swedes.

The forum of the Muslim women held an intellectual symposium on May 15, 2007 on the image of women in the media between fact and fiction, at the headquarters of the European Parliament. It was sponsored by the liberal assembly.

The Arab Center in Greece inaugurated in Athens its great Islamic Center, in the presence of Dr. Omar `Abd Al-Kafi, President of the FIOE Mr. Chakib Ben Makhlouf and the FIOE Secretary General Dr. Ayman `Ali.
