Podcast Help

What is a podcast?

A podcast is a way that 3CR can automatically send you some of our radio programs to your computer and/or portable device using the internet.

You can listen to the radio program at any time, not just when that program is on the air. You can also listen to the program on your computer, on a portable MP3 player or your phone.

A podcast is "radio on demand."

Podcasting Software

"Subscribing" to a podcast means that your computer automatically searches for and downloads the latest episode of that radio program.

Your podcast subscriptions are managed by podcasting software like Juice Receiver (an Open Source cross platform podcast receiver), Apple's iTunes for Mac and Windows or @podder, which caters for visually impaired users. Click here for a full list of podcasting software.

Podcasting software also transfers the podcast onto your MP3 player, or you can just listen to it on your computer. There is some software that allows you to listen to podcasts on mobile phones and Pocket PCs, as well as computers running Mac or Linux OS.

How do I subscribe to a podcast?

To subscribe to a 3CR Podcast, just click on "subscribe to this podcast" from the selection here. The podcast software you've installed will open and subscribe you to that podcast.

Select "Choose Application" to load your podcasting software

If this doesn't happen, select 'Choose Application' from the drop-down menu and select your podcasting software.

If you want to receive podcasts regularly, make sure the scheduling function on your podcasting software is set to search for new podcasts automatically.
