Comprehensive research and industry-government-university collaboration at Keio University

Since its foundation, Keio University's objective has been to nurture the global leaders of the future. Over the years, Keio has continued to fulfill its vital role as an educational institution through its contributions to an intelligent society. In keeping with this role, Keio University has consolidated its position as a research institute based upon the innovative, cutting-edge research results it has achieved in a wide range of fields.

Keio University's unique research framework involves close collaboration between faculty members and students in its integrated schools, undergraduate faculties, and graduate schools, in addition to experts from a number of specialized research institutes. These research activities, in turn, have a firm foundation based upon close collaboration between the university, industry and the government.

It is vital that we continue the evolution of this research framework and use research results to make significant contributions to society and its citizens. To achieve these objectives, we must ensure that these results benefit society and that any feedback we receive is integrated into future research. We must be innovative in our approach to new challenges and establish a scope of activity that is both global and integrated.

In light of these objectives, Keio University has established the Organization for Research Advancement and Administration (ORAA), a university-wide organization headed by the President of the university and dedicated to the strategic promotion of research throughout the institution. The Center for Research Promotion (CRP) is an integral part of this organization as it combines elements from each research project to accurately identify research and social trends both within the university and throughout the world. The CRP's mission is to establish research plans and strategies for researchers and organizations in order to promote innovative research at Keio University. A wide range of close collaborative ties is essential in order to achieve groundbreaking research in the future. We therefore ask for your continued cooperation and support for the CRP's activities.
