Ricky Gervais has written an episode, with writing partner Stephen Merchant, for the American version of The Office.

Gervais and Merchant were asked by producers early this year if they would write an episode and the pair were keen to do so, seeing as they're big fans of the American version of The Office. The episode, entitled "The Convict" is aired on November 30th. The episode sees Michael dealing with the revelation that one of his new employees has a prison record.

For Your Consideration, the new movie from Spinal Tap's Christopher Guest, has opened in the US and hit the UK on 2 Feb 2007.

All the regulars are back - Eugene Levy, Harry Shearer, Catherine O'Hara, Parker Posey, Jennifer Coolidge and Fred Willard. But Guest got The Office creator Ricky Gervais into the mix too. "I got to meet him a couple of years ago and I am a great admirer of The Office which was a scripted show, incidentially, that looked improvised. And his next show, Extras, and I asked him if he wanted to do this. He had never been in a movie and this was his first film and he said yes."

Ricky is to make an eigth appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, on HBO on 16 May 2007

Eight appearances will be a new record for a British comedian on the show.

Ricky attended the premiere of the new Ben Stiller movie - Night At The Museum - in which he also takes a role.

The action-packed adventure film follows the fortunes of a museum where the exhibits come to life and premiered on 17 Dec 2006 in New York. It is now out in the UK on DVD.

RICKY Gervais, the U.K. comic who created and starred in the original edition of "The Office," recently filmed a throw-away scene with the cast and producers of "24."

His pal, Stephen Merchant - who co-created "The Office" - took his "24" fanaticism one step further and actually landed a cameo in January's season-six debut. "Ricky was just too recognizable to put in the show," "24" executive producer Jon Cassar told The Post. "But Stephen actually walks up to someone at CTU and hands them a piece of paper." Cassar said he hopes Gervais agrees to let the scene he filmed be included as a DVD extra. In the scene, a group of White House brass meet to discuss an impending terrorist threat. Gervais, dressed like a presidential advisor, keeps whispering under his breath to give the mission to Jack Bauer - and then acts incredulous when someone else says it aloud and takes credit for the idea.
