elcome to the homepage for Barricade Books and Infoshop. Barricade is an anarchist bookshop and meeting space, and has been serving the needs of community, working class and libertarian movements in Melbourne since February 1995.

NOTE: Barricade has now moved to the 1st floor of Irene Community Arts Warehouse, 5 Pitt Street, Brunswick, the first street on the left on Lygon Street past the Glenlyon Road intersection.

At Barricade, we stock books, pamphlets, magazines, journals, stickers, compact discs, cassettes, t-shirts, jumpers, beanies and pins related to a wide variety of subjects including anarchist theory (obviously), community and workplace organising, indigenous struggles, feminism and environmentalism.

We also have an extensive lending library which anyone can access for a fully refundable fee of $30, and a big comfortable couch for anyone wanting to stop and read in the shop.

Barricade Books is non-profit and run collectively by volunteers in addition to (and sometimes in lieu of) paid work. We welcome helpers and are open to new collective members.
