Bugs

The Bugs are the giant intelligent pseudo-arachnid species who are the enemy in Robert A. Heinlein's classic military science fiction novel Starship Troopers. Hive mind creatures willing to sacrifice members of their species for the greater good, they serve as obvious stand-ins for both the Japanese militarists of the Second World War and Chinese communist cadres of the Cold War.
