Election for the Respect National Council
29/10/2005

The election for the Respect National Council will take place at Respect National Conference. It will be by the slate system. Any member may propose a slate of up to 50 Respect members to be put forward for election at Respect conference. All such slates must be received by the Respect National Office no later than midnight on Sunday 6th November.

In order to assist members the existing National Council is listed below. A proposed new National Council which includes new members suggested by Respect members in Merseyside, Newham and Tower Hamlets (to be moved by George Galloway MP, Linda Smith, national chair and John Rees, the national secretary) is also listed together with a note showing those who are newly proposed this year and those that were on this year's NC but are not being nominated on the new list.

There were no alternative slates proposed for the NC. The following names were proposed and no names were proposed to be removed. There are three vacant places under the current NC slate. There will therefore be a ballot at conference in which each delegate will have three votes. The three nominations which receive the highest votes out of the six candidates will be elected to the NC.
