crime statistics were released - citing 8,380 reported offenses
motivated by race, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or

Investigation of Male Cheerleader Hate Crime
WASHINGTON
(October 30, 2006) - GenderPAC today applauded police in Melrose, Mass.
for categorizing the September assault of a 17-year-old male cheerleader
after a high school football game as a hate crime and for following up
appropriately. The Malden High School student was admitted to the
hospital after being taunted with homophobic slurs and physically
assaulted by students from the rival school. more
