Amy Goodman Draws Large Crowd but Questions About WRPI Fill The Air
While the crowd came to hear from Amy Goodman of Democracy Now, many were worried about the growing tensions at WRPI. Changes in the student governing body of WRPI indicate that its legacy of “Communiversity” radio cannot be taken for granted. As a student controlled station, what happens when the students in charge decide that they want to steer the station away from the progressive talk and news favored by the older community members, and to good-old youthful, angry, commercialized rock & roll instead?

The government offensive against Muslims in America met fresh opposition yesterday in Albany, New York when dozens of leaders of the anti-war movement and other progressive causes joined with Muslims to protest the recent guilty verdicts in the trial of Imam Yassin Aref and Mohammed Musharraf Hossain.

League of Women Voters Protest Hawkins Exclusion from US Senate Debate

The League of Women Voters has withdrawn its sponsorship from a planned US Senate debate on October 22nd because Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins is not being allowed to participate. Democrats Hillary Clinton and Republican John Spencer are the only candidates invited by WABC.
