Announcing the launch of a new scientific journal on the Internet:
GENE-COMBIS, the Computing for Molecular Biology Information Service.

This new journal initiative, developed by Elsevier Science in
cooperation with the European Bioinformatics Institute, offers new
functionalities that take it beyond the bounds of traditional journal
 publishing.

Making full use of new WWW technology, GENE-COMBIS is now available to
the thousands of individual molecular biologists working at locations
that subscribe to the international scientific journal Gene. A
subscription to GENE-COMBIS costs US$75 per individual subscriber,
however, this fee will be waived for the first year of operation.

 GENE-COMBIS features a peer-reviewed electronic journal, integrated
online access to the EMBASE bibliographic references and abstracts,
document delivery facilities, sophisticated search facilities, online
access to the EBI databases, electronic submission of new sequences, a
moderated discussion forum, and a tailored alerting service. An
archival version of each GENE- COMBIS article will be published in the
 journal Gene.
