DAWN members march on Orioles owner for day laborers rights
Last Saturday(June 24), about ten DC activists travelled to Baltimore to help day laborers marching on the office of Peter Angelos. Angelos, thebowner of the Baltimore Orioles, is paying day laborers at the Camden Yards stadium sweatshop wages.

What’s Next for the Palestinians - Starvation?
Since 01/06, when the Palestinians elected a Hamas-dominated government, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have accelerated their brutal treatment. After Israeli PM, Ehud Olmert, appeared before the lapdog U.S. Congress on May 31, 2006, the IOF also slaughtered 32 Palestinians, including 10 children. On 06/23/06, Tim Rothermel and Laila El-Haddad, at a Capitol Hill forum, warned that the Palestinians may, eventually, face starvation, too.

Thousands of Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer (LGBTQ) youth are forced out on to the streets in the U.S. each year, and face harassment, homophobia and even violence in their high schools. In addition, there are many LGBTQs outside this country seeking an increasingly difficult path to political asylum in the U.S.

Is Guard deployment in Occupied New Orleans really to block public housing protests on July 4th?
It has been reported on Democracy Now that many in New Orleans suspect that real reason the National Guard is being deployed there has nothing to do with recent street crimes-and EVERYTHING to do with the housign protests planned for July 4th!

Justice@Smithfield National Campaign Comes to DC
After the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia circuit upheld a board ruling on May 5th of this year ordering Smithfield Packing Comapny to cease and desist, Smithfield Tar Heel plant workers and their supporters held a Day of Action today in DC, demanding from Smithfield Hog Packing Company's plant in Tar Heel North Carolina safer working conditions, a stop to harassment/beatings and intimidation, better protection, slower lines and the right to unionize, as part of a National Campaign of justiceatsmithfield.org.

Franklin Shelter Residents march against turning shelter to Hotel
Franklin Shelter provides housing for 275 residents. Since they are not "surplus people," Franklin Shelter cannot be surplus property. At 9AM on June 20, Franklin shelter residents marched against the Mayor's plan to replace them with hotel guests.
