I am running for the US Senate because we deserve a Senator who will stand up for Connecticut and stand up for
our progressive democratic values. Rather than spending
hundreds of millions of dollars a day in Iraq, it is time for
America to refocus on issues back home: fixing our health
care system, upgrading our schools, and rebuilding our aging infrastructure. We will start winning in Iraq as the Iraqis take control of their own destiny, just as America has to start investing again in our own future.

Ned Lamont on the Estate Tax
This week, the Senate will debate a full repeal of the estate tax, resulting in lost revenue of more than $1 trillion over 10 years. The proposed compromise "solution" would cost at least $500 billion over that time. In 2003, just 2.3% of CT deaths were affected by the tax - only 686 people.
"The estate tax is an essential part of a progressive taxation system. The estate tax applies to just .5% of all estates, and those worth more than $4 million per couple. Weakening or eliminating the estate tax benefits the wealthiest one percent of Americans, and comes at the expense of investing in our communities, citizens, and security. I will oppose any efforts, from either side of the aisle, to further undermine the financial health of this country by weakening or eliminating the estate tax."
