Water. It's the lifeblood of the Northwest. We rely on it for
agriculture, fish, and human survival. But in parts of our region,
demand for water exceeds supply; especially in the late summer. As the
Northwest grows, the situation will only grow more dire. One man who's
sounding the alarm is Jay Manning, Director of the Washington Department
of Ecology. KPLU's Austin Jenkins recently sat down with him for a
one-on-one interview.

News Takes First Place Award in 2006 Journalism Competition
Congratulations to the KPLU news team for winning first place in the
Society of Professional Journalists' recent "2006 Pacific Northwest
Excellence in Journalism Competition." The first place award
was for KPLU's newscasts in Morning Edition and All Things Considered.
