Major new version release!

Finally, dadaIMC version .99 is available for download. There are two separate packages: one for a full, fresh install, and the other for upgrading from version .98.2.

dadaIMC

Current Version: .99.3

dadaIMC is a Content Management System (CMS) specifically tailored for sites that form part of the Indymedia network of Independent Media Centers. The main features are an open publishing newswire, allowing your visitors to post news directly to the site, and the ability to feature content on the home page, optionally through a voting process involving other editors.

The dadaIMC codebase grew from the need for an updated CMS to run the Baltimore IMC website. The existing alternatives were inadequate, and open source solutions on the Net were not tailored enough to our needs. So I set out to create the most flexible, comprehensive, easy-to-use system I could. The result is dadaIMC.

Since its inception, dadaIMC has grown increasingly flexible, and now sports a modular interface that makes it easier than ever to customize it to your needs. With detailed stylesheet specifications (allowing highly customizable "skins"), configurable MIME type support, and full internationalization for serving in multiple languages, dadaIMC is a clean and simple solution to your needs. And since it's released under the LGPL, you get that cozy feeling of Open Source goodness surrounding you at all times.

About the .99 release

This latest version offers substantial under-the-hood improvements, solidifying the underlying modular architecture, and adding security and performance enhancements. Database queries have been greatly reduced in number, caching is better and more flexible, and new modules have been added. dadaIMC now supports threaded comments (allowing comments-on-comments), mailing list archives, discussion fora, and a new system for easily obtaining code updates. All with the same ease of use it always had.

Report Bugs

dadaIMC uses the Mantis bug-tracking system for bug reporting. Please use it! And check for existing reports of your bug before submitting a new one.

CVS

The current CVS version of dadaIMC is now browseable online. Be forewarned, though, that it is not always in a useable state as-is!
