the active software
activist news, events and projects on the web
The active software creates a set of web pages which allow web surfers to
contribute to a shared calendar, groups listing, and multimedia news with
discussion. It's designed to be easy to use, and easy to read the results.
Active is behind most of the indymedia.org network and all of active.org.au. Active has helped identify the
concept of open
publishing.
( As of 2004, most of Indymedia now runs on Mir, active-sf, or dadaIMC ... )
It is free software, and copyleft. It can be
run on an entirely free software server using PHP, perl and PostgreSQL.
