One Hundred Protesters Gather at Nashville's Opryland to Protest Bush Visit Current rating: 0

For the second time in as many days, members of the Nashville Peace Coalition and broader peace community stood in public witness to the policies of the republican administration towards war and to the odious presence of the resident thief in Nashville Tennessee.

The corporate media circus was there in full regalia running around getting sound bites here and there and peaceful folks were gathered on the streets mostly holding peace signs and a few folks were holding kerry/edwards signs. The cops were there to make sure that no one walked on the street and everybody had a good time yelling at the president as the military style black van motorcade drove by. . .read more for a full story of the August 31st Bush Bash. Photos by Al Levenson.
George Dubya Bush was in Nashville today. I felt like staying in bed and ignoring it but I couldn't resist going to the streets and telling George Bush to go home.

This is the second protest in as many days for peace and against war. Since the War Criminal George Bush was in Nashville to speak to the American Legion at Opryland, about one hundred peaceful folks turned out as well. They figured that one hundred good people might make up for the presence of one ugly duckling and his entourage of naer-do-well yes men.

This protester, a veteran of the protest movement, had a sign that said it simply and clearly. Rumor is she was raised at the communist day care that the Highlander Center used to run up on Monteagle Mountain, but we can't verify that for sure.

One of the biggest problems with the protesters is that seem to think that they deserve a democracy. The Republicrats know what's best and protesters like this should just "Shut Up" like they say on Fox News.

The Resident in Thief was in Nashville to talk to the Veterans of the American Legion. It is hard to know what a rich boy who avoided service in Vietnam would know about veterans. This fellow was there to say what he really wants George Bush to do with the men and women in Iraq. This writer wonders if GW is even paying attention. Apparently he can't hear the voices of millions of Americans. Maybe we need to check his hearing or see if he even has a brain.

This is one of those annoying protesters who always wants to connect the current administration with the War on Terror. The Republican Orwellian doublespeak on War is Peace and such is never addressed by the corporate press, which parrots everything the administration puts out, this was especially during the first months of the War on the People of Iraq.

The corporate press does pretend to care about what people say. Even though they are the mouthpiece of the business class, the liberals still think it is important to get a good message out. This author has mixed opinions about speaking to the corporate press, but generally supports it. For this demonstration every corporate news outlet in middle tennessee was busy fishing the crowd for sound bites.

This event was a double shot of Bush dissension. On Sunday the Billionaires for Bush came to Nashville because they heard there was a party going on. It turned out that the party was a bunch of hippies and peace activists who were out in the streets because they wanted to show their solidarity with the protesters in New York. Since the Billionaires couldn't be in New York they decided to come to their second favorite place, the Tennessee Republican Headquarters. This protester must be one of their disaffected children.

It is true that about three hundred Bush supporters showed up at the same time as the one hundred or so peaceful folks were gathered at the corner of McGavock Drive and Music Valley Drive at the entrance to Billionaire Gaylord's plantation style Opryland Resort where Bush was speaking, but this indymedia activist chose not to report about their presence. I am sure that a few of these people got their message across to the misguided Bush folks.
