1/3/98: The offices of teachers at the 6th high school at Halandri (suburb of Athens), are set on fire. Several documents are destroyed. No group claims responsibility.

1/3/98: A tourist bus is set on fire at Pagrati, (suburb of Athens), which was used by "Greek-German education." No group claims responsibility.

1/3/98: More than 100 fishermen are put on trial at Lamia, because they have participated in the port's blockade, three years ago.

3/3/98: A van, owned by the security company, "Stilva Varvoukis," is set on fire, at St.Paul, (suburb of Athens). Responsibility is taken by the group "Consciously Arsonist" who ring a local newspaper and state: "In solidarity with N. Maziotis, a gaoled anarchist activist. Fire to all police forces, private, democratic or state."

5/3/98: Groups of students, mostly leftists, clash with youth members of PASOK (the governing party) and with undercover cops, outside Pantios, (university of Athens), protesting the arrival of the Prime Minister. Finally, the Prime Minister leaves via the backdoor of the university, escorted by strong police forces.

5/3/98: Riot police attack citizens of Perea village, (a village near Thessaloniki), who are protesting the installation of radar in their area. Four people are arrested.

8/3/98: The citizens of Perea blockade the road which passes through the village, in order to protest the arrests and the presence of riot police in the area.

8/3/98: The offices of PASOK near a railway station, in the centre of Athens, are set on fire. Responsibility is taken by the group "Uprising Fire", which rings a local newspaper and states, " In solidarity with N.Maziotis".

10/3/98: The farmers of Trikala (city in central Greece) gather in the central square to protest the continuing trials of farmers who participated in the blockades of national roads.

10/3/98: A protest demonstration is held at the Polytechnic School, because of the trial of the anarchist, K.Gardounis, who was arrested, outside the occupied Pantios (university of Athens), during clashes with the cops on 9th of April 1995. (There have also been clashes, the same day outside the university of economics of Athens and at the Theological university, at Thessaloniki, because of the stabbing of the anarchist, J.Stathopoulos by the fascist Manologiou). The protest is organised by "Consciously Gangs form West Neighbourhood".

11/3/98: Anarchist K.Gardounis is sentenced to 13 months in gaol with 3 years on parole.

12/3/98: The explosion of a homemade bomb occurs under a car at the offices of "Chrysler", at Papagou, (suburb of Athens). Two minutes later, a similar device explodes outside the offices of "Opel" at A.Paraskevi, (suburb of Athens). No group claims responsibility.

12/3/98: The car of the president of the state company of public transformation, is set on fire at Polidroso, (suburb of Athens). Responsibility is taken by the group "Consciously Arsonists" which rings a local newspaper and states: "Freedom for N.Maziotis."

13/3/98: The father of G.Anagnostou, (G.Anagnostou is one of the three imprisoned after clashes with the police outside the students' hall on 15/2), accuses the "witness" Zahariadis of demanding money in order not to testify against his son before the court.

13/3/98: Pyrotechnics neutralise a bomb placed outside the offices of the "Farmers' Bank" at Polichni, (suburb of Thessaloniki). Some minutes ago, there was a warning call at a newspaper, from the group "Fighters of the Spirit of Kileler" who claimed responsibility. (Kileler is the site of a farmers' uprising in the early 20th century where many died).

17/3/98: 12 people who were arrested on 16/3/92 for trying to stop the closure of an alternative radio station, go on trial.

20/3/98: A group of fascists invades the house of Albanian immigrant workers, injure them, and ask them to "....leave their area...", because they "...take their jobs...", at Ikaria, (island in North Eastern Greece). Lately, the media is trying to "criminalise" all immigrants, especially the Albanians.

23/3/98: A group of fascists, beat up an Albanian immigrant, in the centre of Athens, and force him to read aloud, a text (which "attacks them"), from a newspaper.

1/4/98: The "Collaboration of Anti-Authoritarian Students", holds a gathering/discussion at the building of the Univerisity of Economics in the centre of Athens, with a large attendance of people on the subject of student elections. At the end of the discussion, a concert takes place. The same day, the students' elections take place, with most students boycotting the elections.

2/4/98: A group of fascists beat up two Polish workers at the K.Patisia (suburb of Athens) subway. The same day, the citizens of a village at Ilia, (western Greece) arrest all the Albanian workers who live and work in the village and give them to the police, who release them, because they have broken no laws. The citizens chase the Albanians away from the village, beating some of them up.

3/4/98: Teachers and students march into the centre of Athens, as part of their campaign against cutbacks to education. They try to invade the Ministry of Education and clash with riot police. One protestor who is arrested is held inside the Ministry and is finally released after two hours.

9/4/98: Groups of anarchists and anti-racists march into the centre of Athens, in solidarity with immigrants. Paint bombs and rocks are thrown at the building of the "Journalists' Union".
